Fun In The Sun!

Water activities are a must for us in the summer and most of our time is spent at The Falls, our awesome aquatic center. However, we have no photos of the kids enjoying themselves there because they are ANTI-PHOTOGRAPHS (how dare them)! When they first opened, you could not have any cameras and now you are required to wear a "press" badge. That's a lot of work for a few pictures if you ask me. Honestly, I do understand why they are strict with their policies and I know it is for safety reasons. Where am I going with this? Well, although most of our days are spent at the pool, I had to settle with sharing backyard (or front yard) fun in the water with you because the photography police are nowhere to be found in our 'hood!

The neighbors had out the slip 'n' slide on a hot afternoon, so the kids invited themselves over to join. Don't think it was a fair slide between the 9 and 5 year old!

Owen loved the slide and claimed the winners trophy a few times (when he was the only one racing)!

We've also set up the pool in the backyard once or twice. Note to self...don't do it right after mowing as there tends to be just as much grass and mud in the pool as water! The boys were actually entertained for quite awhile, which is a rarity at this house.

Owen did continuous belly flops over the side. This is very similar to what he does at the pool too!

Cool dudes!

Do you notice a slight difference in body types here?

Looks like he's ready for the Olympics!

When can I have a sleepover?

Owen has been asking this question for quite some time and just doesn't understand why he can't sleep over at his friend's house. He's even gone so far as to tell Tana (his babysitter) he's going to sleep at her house, in the bed with her, and Josh (her husband) can sleep on the couch! Well, his dream finally came true and he got to have a sleepover!!! Ashley was going to her folks for a couple of days, so Owen got to tag along...FINALLY a sleepover without Mom, Dad, Mason or Connor! The excitement building up inside of him was almost more than he could handle. Thankfully (for us that is) I didn't tell him about it until a few hours before departure time...he would have drove us nuts!

He packed his "case", grabbed a snack for the road, and found his latest "favorite" toy (Woody) to play with in the car!

Overall, he had a great time with Ashley, Courtney, Julie, Jay, and G'pa and G'ma Bormann. Watching Courtney play ball, swimming, going out for lunch, and playing at the farm highlighted his trip. Who wouldn't love a vacation like that? I guess my little guy is growing up!

Baseball, Baseball, and More Baseball!

Our hectic schedule of summer ball is almost coming to an end. While it has been a long season, the boys have been so excited and have made a lot of improvement. Seeing the boys enjoy the sport has made all the time and effort involved worth it!

Connor thought he was pretty cool when he hit an "in the park home run" today. Of course, a few errors on part of the gold team helped him out! He still ran the bases like a pro and sped to homeplate. The kid has some serious wheels when he needs them! Note his batting gloves in his back pocket...the first day of practice he took his bat bag, batting gloves, helmet, and glove. Pretty serious stuff for a kindergarten t-ball team!

Mason finished up his first season of IBL on Saturday with a record of 27-3. We saw him grow tremendously as a ball player and more importantly as a team member. I love seeing the boys encourage each other and realize the importance of working together to reach a goal. He made some great friends along the way and really enjoyed himself, which is what's most important in our eyes!

Cedarloo North Stars - 1st place in Valley Conference and 2nd place in the Gold Bracket

Owen has been a trooper the entire season. At first I dreaded those double headers, not knowing how I was going to entertain him for 3 hours. But he soon discovered ways to keep himself busy...playing in the dirt, eating, finding a playground, eating, keeping up with Connor and his buddies, eating, coloring, eating, and playing with Lydia! Do you notice a pattern? IJ, one of Mason's buddies, also named him the team mascot. (I'm not so sure this is a good thing since they are usually animals!)

Owster and some of his baseball buddies!
